- Description of current human trafficking issues related to this country -
Honduras is principally a source and transit country for men, women, and children subjected to se trafficking and forced labor. Honduran women and children are often subjected to sex trafficking in urban and tourist centers such as Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, and the Bay Islands. Honduran women and children are exploited in sec trafficking in other countries in the region as well, particularly Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the United States. The government of Honduras does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking, however it is making significant efforts to do so.
- Description of Illicit Drug trafficking/use -
Honduras is now also the region’s most violent and crime ridden country. This is, in part, due to its role as a strategically important transit nation for the transnational drug trade, as well as macroeconomic, shifts, endemic poverty and corruption, and Political turmoil.

Rafael Callejas, former president of Honduras was accused of taking bribes in his role as president of the Honduras soccer federation pleaded guilty. Mr. Callejas paid much of that bribe money forward to delegates of his country’s soccer federation to endure his re-election. Mr. Callejas agreed to pay back $650,000 thousand dollars to the United States, and he was scheduled to sentence on August 5th, 2016.
I feel like this article is a good representation of how politics and business man work in Honduras. Their power revolves around wealth and not around the thought of the Country’s Success. Most of Honduras’ important figures and heads of government win their place through bribes.
This articles ties into politics because it describes Honduras’ dirty side politics. It proves how Honduras’ third world country title is created due to its government’s will to care for its country. Honduras is a third world country due to its dependence on other countries like the United States and its political instability.
